How affiliate links work

Some links on SteveFraney.com are affiliate links. Steve may earn a commission if you buy through those links, at no extra cost to you.

Compensation does not control editorial recommendations. The goal is to recommend gear categories and products that fit the use case being discussed: Northeast coastal fishing, regional conditions from Chincoteague, Virginia, to Camden, Maine, surf trips, boat days, rain, sun, wind, spray, and seasonal prep.

Current commission links

• Patagonia - Premium outdoor apparel and fly fishing/outdoor gear
• HUK - Fishing apparel and angler gear

Links to these partners use a verified tracked path. A qualifying purchase may earn Steve a commission at no extra cost to the buyer.

Uncompensated retailer references

• TackleDirect - Fishing tackle, rods, reels, lures, tools, waders, and equipment
• Orvis - Fly fishing tackle, leaders, lines, flies, apparel, and outdoor gear

These retailer links remain useful for comparing current products and availability, but they are not counted as commission-ready unless an approved tracked relationship is verified.

Recommendation updates

Recommendations may change as gear availability, retailer catalogs, field needs, and Steve’s confirmed product experience change. The site will not invent personal testing, star ratings, fake reviews, fake testimonials, or fake prices.
